Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) is organizing a special interaction programme today in order to make the role of its parliamentarians more effective and responsible.
Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to impart training to the UML lawmakers on their role and responsibilities in the parliament.
According to party secretary and chief of the parliamentary department, Padma Aryal, former secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Harka Raj Rai would apprise the participants of the parliament secretariat’s functions, responsibilities, powers, jurisdiction of the parliamentary committees and the issues to be raised.
Similarly, General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel will impart training on the party’s policies and the duties of the lawmakers. General Secretary Pokharel will clarify how the parliamentarians should play a role in the parliament as per the party policy and how they should coordinate and consult with the party departments on the related issues.
According to Niraj Acharya, head of the publicity and publication department of the party, lawmakers from both the houses as well as heads of departments and former members of the party have also been invited. During the program, a roster of subject experts recommended by the concerned departments will be prepared, who will provide expert advice to the MPs on parliamentary matters.
