Kathmandu. The government has significantly increased the salary scale to boost the morale of civil servants and to address the pressure of inflation. This increase has come into effect from today with the beginning of the new fiscal year 2083/084.
Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, in his budget speech on May 29, had announced a 10 percent increase in the starting salary scale of employees. According to him, the new system has been implemented continuity with the existing dearness allowance in view of the fact that the salary of the employees has not been increased for the last four years.
During the budget speech, Finance Minister Wagle had said that the government has increased the salary by 10 percent in the initial scale and an additional 10 percent monthly incentive allowance has been arranged to start the system of giving remuneration on the basis of performance.
The new system has increased the salary of the employees by about 21 percent.
With this increase, the minimum salary of civilian, military and teachers has been increased from around Rs 40,000 to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh. That is, the minimum number of employees at the lower level will be Rs 40,000 and for the higher level employees will be more than Rs 1 lakh.
