Kathmandu. Ganesh Nepali of Mugu, who had self-immolated, was released after no complaint was lodged against the city police for installing wheel lock on his motorbike. He has not been prosecuted.
On Thursday, Ganesh had an altercation with a woman of the Metropolitan Police after he put a wheel lock on his motorcycle in Tripureshwor. He then poured petrol from the tank of his motorcycle on his body and set it on fire.
The District Police Range, Bhadrakali had summoned five persons including the woman to the office on Friday for questioning. Nepali died the same day while undergoing treatment. Police have arrested three of them after their deaths. However, they are not in police custody now.
According to Kathmandu Police Spokesperson SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, they have been called to know the details of the incident. He was then sent to be present at the time of need.
Bhattarai said that investigation would be carried out if the family members of the deceased filed a case of abetment to suicide. However, no such complaint or petition has been received so far.
