Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has kicked off the second phase of local level election under its first national general convention.
Voting has started after the initial list of candidates was announced.
After the publication of the preliminary list, the process of claim-opposition, publication of final candidate list and entry of details of candidates in the electronic voting system are yet to be done.
Earlier, Rabi Lamichhane had been elected unopposed to the post of president. Dr Swarnim Wagle has been elected unopposed after Biraj Bhakta Shrestha withdrew his candidacy for the post of open vice-president.
Likewise, Kabindra Burlakoti, Pramod Neupane, Ganesh Parajuli, Jagadish Kharel (Lalitpur), Shishir Khanal and Rajunath Pandey have withdrawn their candidacies.
The election will be held for the posts of woman vice-president, general secretary, two open joint general secretaries and one woman joint general secretary. Sobita Gautam and Dr. Shrestha have been elected as women vice-presidents. Toshima Karki is in the race. Likewise, Manish Jha, Bipin Acharya, Ranju Darshana, Sagar Dhakal and Ganesh Karki are in the fray for the post of general secretary.
It is said that the voting has started late than the scheduled time as efforts were made to forge consensus on the election of the office-bearers.
