Kathmandu. The Department of National Identity Cards and Registration (DoR) has launched a service to download the e-national identity card.
Issuing a notice on Thursday, the Department said that the service has been brought into operation on a trial basis through the Department’s citizen portal with the objective of providing easy service to the citizens under the 100 agendas related to governance reforms of the government.
According to the Department, from June 19, 2083, the Citizen Portal will be able to download photos, online verifiable QR codes and password-protected ‘Provisional National Identity Cards’.
Citizens of Nepal who have already obtained the national ID number can download the e-national ID card by entering his/her name (Nepali or English), date of birth and date of citizenship issue.
The department has urged the citizens to keep the downloaded e-national ID card safely. Likewise, the public bodies and service providing institutions have been requested to scan the QR code on the e-national identity card and verify the details to be presented by the citizens.
Prior to this, the service was being provided on the basis of the national identity number printed from the department’s citizen portal.
