Kathmandu. The Medical Education Commission (MEC) has decided to endorse the Scholarship Grant Procedure-2083 BS.

A meeting of the commission held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Balendra Shah took the decision to this effect.

According to PM Shah’s press and research expert Deepa Dahal, the PSC has resolved the legal ambiguity and problems in the long run by endorsing the working procedure within 24 hours of getting the consent from the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ministry of Finance.

The Ordinance Designed to amend some Nepal Acts published in the Nepal Gazette, 2083 BS had added Section 54 (B) to the National Medical Education Act, 2075.

Earlier, due to Section 35 of the Legislation Act, 2081, all the old directives and procedures of the Commission were automatically nullified.

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education and Sports had agreed to resolve the problem on June 1 with positive opinions. The work procedure has paved the way for distributing grants to public educational institutions for providing free scholarships and free scholarships in postgraduate level (including DM and MCH).

This guideline has paved the way for distributing grants to educational institutions teaching medicine on behalf of the Commission for providing free scholarships at all levels (including Master’s level, DM, MCH).

The meeting was co-chaired by Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta and attended by Commission’s Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Shree Krishna Giri and other members.
