Kathmandu. In Nepal, the problem of heart attack is increasing not only among the elderly but also among the young people. Many have also lost their lives. The risk of heart attack has increased among young people in recent years.
In a conversation with cardiologist Dr. Milan Shrostha of Nepal News Bank, he said that the problem of blood pressure and sugar is seen in young people in recent time, which has increased the risk of heart attack. Shrestha said that cholesterol has also started increasing equally. “Problems like blood pressure and sugar are increasing in the youth in recent times. Youths are also facing problems due to ambitious thinking,” he said.
He said that heart problems are also seen more in youth due to excessive overwork, staying up late at night, not exercising physically, and excessive consumption of tobacco.
According to him, the main causes of heart attack are blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol problem, cigarette and tobacco consumption, obesity and physical exercise increase the risk of heart attack. He said that people who work under extreme mental stress also contribute significantly to heart attacks.
He said, “The main causes of heart attack are blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol problems, cigarette and tobacco consumption, and people who do not exercise physically are more prone to heart attacks.” ’
Dr. Shrestha said that a heart attack mainly causes a narrowing in the blood vessels and sometimes when the blood flow through the blood vessels is blocked, the heart muscle dies. He said that a heart attack is called dying and becoming useless.
He said that the problem of heart attack is seen when the process of fat accumulation starts by causing disease in the blood vessels, not always due to high blood pressure.
“If there is a normal block in the heart, nothing can happen to the person. But as the block increases, you feel heaviness, especially in the chest,” he said.
According to him, the main reason for the increase in the risk of heart problems or heart attack is diet. “Especially in people who eat a lot of fish, red meat, fatty substances, alcohol and cigarettes, the increase in cholesterol, pressure and sugar can affect the heart,” he said.
At the same time, people who do not exercise regularly are more likely to have heart disease. Therefore, he suggested continuous physical exercise.
Mental stress also helps to increase blood pressure and heart rate, which can lead to uncontrollable pressure, sugar and cholesterol, he said.
But in recent times, the treatment of heart attack is very easy and available in many places, so people do not die as soon as they have a heart attack. He said that the treatment of heart attack is mainly done only in big hospitals. He said that most people panic that even if they have a slight chest pain, they have a heart attack.
“Chest pain is not all heart pain, and chest pain is not all heart attacks,” he said.
According to him, chest pain can also be caused by muscle and bone pain. Gastric problems can also cause chest pain, and even when vitamin D is deficient, a person can have chest pain, dizziness and chest pain when working under excessive stress or lack of sleep.
He said there wasn’t much he could do at home if he suspected a heart attack. He said that if there is a suspicion of a heart attack, if there is severe chest pain, the first thing to do is to go to the hospital.
He advised to go to the hospital if there is a suspicion of a heart attack as the treatment is done through angioplasty.
He urged people not to eat red meat, fatty foods, fatty foods and refined products in their diet. He suggested eating vegetables, fruits and protein-rich foods in a balanced manner.
He said that mental stress is emerging as a new big problem in recent times. He urged them to pay special attention to managing stress by not working for more than seven to eight hours a day, refreshing their mind and creating an environment that keeps their mind free.
