Dabur’s honey unfit to be eaten: Department directs to immediately return it from market

Kathmandu. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DIT) has launched a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dabur Nepal Pvt. Ltd. The government has issued an order to immediately return 500 grams of ‘Dabur Honey’ (honey) produced by Dabur Honey Limited from the market. The samples of honey collected by the Department in course of market monitoring and inspection were found to be sub-standard when tested at the laboratory as per the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081 BS.

Dabur Nepal Pvt. Ltd. located at Jitpur-Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-23 in Bara district. Ltd. The department issued the recall order on 2083/02/05 after the honey produced from the company, batch number AB 00477, production date 2025/12 and consumable period of 18 months was proved to be sub-standard.

As per the directive of the Director-General to immediately recall all the honey of the batch number as per the provision of sub-section (2) of Section 38 of the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081 BS and not to sell or distribute the products as per the sub-section (4) of the same section.
