Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Prabha Dhakal has demanded that the government ensure respectable remuneration to health workers and take stern action against the hospitals not meeting the criteria.

Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Minister Thapa informed that health workers working in private and community hospitals across the country are agitating demanding minimum wages and safe working environment. According to her, many hospitals have not provided remuneration as per the government standard despite the directives of the Ministry of Health from time to time.

Dhakal questioned, “How can quality health services be possible when the health workers who are responsible for saving the lives of the citizens are in an unsafe and dissatisfied situation?”

Stating that the health services were deteriorating in recent period, she said that the number of road accidents was increasing due to lack of timely treatment and necessary pressure. Stating that the patients and their relatives are compelled to complain, she blamed that the fundamental right to health guaranteed by the constitution has not been implemented effectively.
