Kathmandu. A proposal has been tabled to initiate discussion on the government’s annual policy and programme in the House of Representatives. In the second meeting held on Wednesday, Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah. Swarnim Wagle has proposed this.

The opposition leaders stood from their seats in protest after the Speaker gave time to Finance Minister Wagle to put forth the proposal. The Speaker then gave time to the leader of the main opposition party to put forth their views.

Leader of the main opposition party Bhishma Raj Angdembe said that the Prime Minister should be present to answer the government’s policies and programmes. He also asked the Prime Minister to rule for his presence.

In response, the Speaker said that his attention was drawn to the amendment proposal of 35 people. Stating that it could be decided whether or not to attend the meeting only after discussing with the Prime Minister, the Speaker urged the opposition lawmakers to take their seats and proceed with the meeting.

However, the opposition lawmakers did not heed Aryal’s request. They kept getting up. Meanwhile, RSP lawmaker Kabindra Burlakoti stood up and demanded time to speak. But the Speaker did not give him time.

The leader of the main opposition party, Angdembe, was given time to put his views in one minute. But is it wrong for Angdembe to say that it is wrong to give time to the main opposition party and that he should answer to the policies and programs of the Prime Minister? He asked.

“The way we have helped the Speaker to run the House, he said, “We want the continuity of this House, while we want a way out.” We had to rule for discussion. We don’t shout much, but we stand up and put our point of view. ’
