Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance has approved the proposal of adding 977 permanent posts in the health sector.

According to Health Minister Nisha Mehta’s Secretariat, the Ministry of Finance has approved the proposal to add 977 new permanent technicians and specialists.

“The Ministry of Finance has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Health on Wednesday,” a secretariat member said, adding, “Now we are going to increase the vacancy for the most essential human resources in the health sector.” ’

The proposal will now have to be approved by the cabinet. According to the Ministry of Health, the decision to increase the vacancy will be taken by the decision of the Council of Ministers.

There has been no increase in the number of posts in the health sector for the last three decades. The former health minister had repeatedly tried to increase the number of vacancies but the government did not give permission.

Employees in the health sector have also been raising the issue for decades by unions and experts.

Although the population of the country reached three crore, there was a shortage of human resources in hospitals, health institutions and specialist services when the permanent quota structure was limited to the old structure.

Officials at the Ministry of Health said that the new posts would make the health service management more effective as per the federal set-up.
