Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Poudel today issued the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council. The government had again recommended to the President to issue the ordinance.
Earlier, President Poudel had issued 7 out of the eight ordinances recommended by the government, but the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council was sent back for reconsideration.
The cabinet meeting on Monday had recommended to re-issue the ordinance as it is. The President issued the ordinance today.
As per the ordinance, 4 members can be present in the meeting of the Constitutional Council and the decision can be taken by a majority of the members present.
The Constitutional Council is chaired by the Prime Minister and has 6 members. The council comprises the prime minister, leader of the main opposition party, chief justice, speaker of the House of Representatives, deputy speaker and chairman of the National Assembly.
