Kathmandu. Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has issued a stern warning to doctors not to provide services in unregistered health institutions.

In a recent notice made public by the Council, it has been directed to provide services only by being affiliated to the health institutions and clinics registered legally as per the prevailing law.

According to the Council, the doctors should have clear information about the registration status, legality, available services and capacity to provide services before starting work in any institution. They have also been urged to maintain proper coordination between their educational qualifications, registration status and the services they provide.

It has been made clear in the notice that working in an unregistered organization or being associated with such an organization is against the professional code of conduct.

Doctors involved in such activities have also been warned of disciplinary action as per the Council Act and Regulations.
