Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: An agreement on assistance under the second phase of the Ring Road expansion project was formally signed on Wednesday. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Sunil Lamsal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming signed the MoU.
As per the agreement, an 8.2-km road and bridge will be constructed from Kalanki to Basundhara in the second phase. The Chinese government will provide a grant of around Rs 11 billion for the project.
The first phase of road widening from Koteshwar to Kalanki has already started in 2019.
After signing the agreement, Minister Lamsal pledged to resolve the problems surfaced in course of project implementation within a day. Stating development of north-south road connectivity was in the priority of the government, PM Oli expected more investment from China in the infrastructure sector.
Chinese ambassador Maoming also said that Chinese investors were willing to invest in Nepal provided conducive environment is created for the investment.
