Thunderstorm likely to occur in various districts of 4 provinces on Wednesday

Kathmandu. Heavy winds are likely to occur in some parts of the country today. Thunderstorm is likely to blow in various districts of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be strong winds in Morang and surrounding districts of Koshi Province, Dhanusha and Bara of Madhesh Province, Bardiya, Banke, Dang and Arghakhanchi of Lumbini Province and Dadeldhura and Doti of Sudurpaschim Province.

The storm is expected to start at 6:45 pm today and will continue till 7:45 am on Thursday. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has urged people to adopt necessary precaution in areas prone to storm today.

There is a risk of trees and weak structures falling down, roofs flying off, and disrupting electricity and communication services due to strong winds. The Authority has requested the people to take precaution at the designated place and time period. The NRA has suggested not to move outside the house during the storm and to close the windows and doors of the house properly.

Similarly, if the roof made of zinc is weak, it has also been asked to strengthen the bond. People have been urged not to light fire outside the house, to be careful while lighting fire inside the house, not to sit near weak structures, tall trees, poles and under electric wires, and not to touch electric wires if they are hanging.

It has urged the people to remain alert as there is a risk of injury from flying goods and to adopt necessary precaution by keeping in mind the weather forecast and information issued by the Authority from time to time.
