Sameer Balami leads new executive committee of Film Journalists Association

Kathmandu. The 27th General Assembly and 10th General Convention of Film Journalists Association of Nepal (FNJ) has elected a new working committee under the leadership of Samir Balami. Samir Balami has been re-elected as the president of the association in the election held on Saturday night.

Out of the total 140 votes cast in the election, Balami was elected to the post with 95 votes while his rival Jeevan Parajuli was defeated by 42 votes.

Journalist Balami has pledged to play active role in enhancing professionalism, dignity and credibility of film journalism and further strengthening the association.

Raghunath Sapkota has been elected the vice-president of the association. Raghunath garnered 73 votes while his rival Nabin Giri got 62 votes. Kumar Acharya was elected unopposed to the post of vice-president (program). Likewise, Deepjyoti Thapa has been elected vice-president (woman) securing 75 votes. Her closest contender was Sushma Karki who got 62 votes.

Likewise, Gopi Krishna Chapagain was elected to the post of General Secretary securing 54 votes. His nearest rival was left alliance’s Narayan Kaji Shrestha who got 44 votes. CP Jaisi got 19 votes while Pawan Bhattarai got 18 votes.

Rijal garnered 94 votes while his nearest rival Surendra Thapa Magar got 45 votes. Mohammad Jalim was elected unopposed as secretary (inclusive).

Manish Anjan Dahal was elected to the post of Treasurer garnering 74 votes while his rival Nisha Bajgain got 65 votes. Likewise, Arjun Guragain won the post of joint treasurer securing 62 votes. His nearest rival was CPN (Maoist Centre) who got 42 votes.

All the candidates for the post of member were elected unopposed. The members elected unopposed are Sushil Nepal, Dinesh Thapa, Sojana BK Lohar, Yubarna Poudel (Pooja), Ratan Bahadur Chand, Salikram Neupane, Nabin Chapagain and Deepraj Chhetri.

Journalist Balami has pledged to play active role in enhancing professionalism, dignity and credibility of film journalism and further strengthening the association.

Advocate Krishna Dhungana was the chief election officer of the general convention. Mohan Niraula, President of Film Artists Association, Narendra Maharjan, Director Madhav Raj Kharel and former President Bidur Giri were also elected in the electoral college.
