Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that he was released from the post of criminal charge against him due to lack of evidence.
Reacting through social media, Oli accused the government of illegally detaining him for 13 days by accusing him with prejudice and revenge. He said he was eventually released because there was not enough evidence to prosecute.
“I was held illegally in detention for 13 days with a prejudiced and vindictive criminal charge by the government,” he wrote on social media. ’
After his release, he expressed gratitude to justice-loving citizens, legal practitioners, judicial activists, various political parties and media persons who raised their voice in his favour. He also expressed respect to the Supreme Court that issued the mandamus order.
On the occasion, Chairman Oli has also expressed gratitude to the police administration and the family involved in the treatment of him while in police custody.
“I express my gratitude to all justice-loving sisters and brothers who have raised voice for my release, legal practitioners, justice activists, various political parties, politicians and media persons who have been working round the clock in the legal battle.
At the same time, I express my high respect to the respected Supreme Court for issuing the mandamus order. I am also grateful to the police administration and the family of the TU Teaching Hospital who treated me humanely while I am in police custody,” he wrote.
He has demanded his release and wished speedy recovery to those injured during the agitation and said that the state should bear the medical expenses of those injured during the agitation. He also informed that his party would bear the medical expenses if the state showed indifference.
He also expressed gratitude to party leaders, cadres and well-wishers, stating that he would be treated at the hospital for some days as his health condition is deteriorating.
