Second National Economic Census kicks off from April 15

Kathmandu. The National Economic Census is being launched from April 15 with the mobilization of around 5,000 employees across the country.

A five-day training programme for enumerators selected for the Second National Economic Census-2082 to be conducted by the National Statistics Office (NFS) is starting from today.

The enumerators are being trained as part of the preparation of the census which is being started with the objective of updating the statistics related to the national economy by identifying the actual status, form and structure of economic activities.

Spokesperson of the office, Dhundiraj Lamichhane, said that 84 offices across the country will simultaneously conduct the training. According to him, the process of selecting the enumerator required for the economic census has been completed and necessary communication has been sent to the concerned municipalities.

After the completion of the training, the enumerators will be assigned as per their responsibilities throughout the country. Before this, the first National Economic Census was conducted in 2075 BS. This year’s economic census has been taken forward in the private-public collaboration model.
