Kathmandu. Pokhara—Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has been implicated in the Phewa Lake land scam in Pokhara, his secretariat has claimed that he himself was cheated.

Home Minister Gurung has been running a campaign to remove the structures constructed by encroaching on Fewa Lake land as per the Supreme Court’s order and the land taken by him was found to be within the encroachment.

KATHMANDU: Minister Gurung and three other partners are going to the court for legal remedy accusing the landowner of cheating them by concealing the fact that they have encroached upon the land. However, the landlords have asked Sudhan to pay the rent publicly, saying he has not paid the rent so far.

According to the secretariat, Minister Gurung along with three youth entrepreneurs had come up with a plan to run ‘Adventure Sports Nepal’ some 8-10 years ago with the objective of promoting adventure tourism on the banks of Fewa Lake in Pokhara.

Quoting Gurung, Gurung’s secretariat said, “We started the work with a big investment and dream with the enthusiasm and energy to do something in the country.” Before leasing the land, we were assured by the landowners that the land did not fall within the 65-metre limit. Even in the land certificate, it was shown that the land was safe, but later it was found that it was within the criteria. ’

Gurung also said that they stopped the work immediately after coming to know that they had been deceived.

Gurung said, “As soon as I came to know about the fact that the land was leased out by deceiving us, I immediately stopped all construction work and investment on moral grounds.” As a young entrepreneur, our dreams and investments are not acceptable. ’

Minister Gurung is preparing to seek legal remedy in this case.
