Collection of voters’ list begins today

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The collection of voters’ list which has been postponed for the House of Representatives election is to begin from today.

The Election Commission (EC) had suspended the collection of name lists for the election to the House of Representatives since November 20. A meeting of the EC on April 18 decided to start the process of renaming the voters’ list.

Commission’s Joint-Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the programme would resume from today. Arrangements have been made for Nepali citizens who have obtained the national identity card number to register their names in the voters’ list through the online system through the details of their national identity card.

Those who are not associated to the national identity card system have to fill up the online form through the ‘pre-enrollment’ system of the commission. Applicants will have to physically present their biographical details along with his/her photo and fingerprints at the State and District Election Offices.

Spokesperson Bhattarai said that the applications can be made online for the works like correcting the errors in the voters’ list, removing duplicate names and updating details of death and migration.

Correction of name, surname, address, shifting of name to a place convenient to the voters if there are two or more polling stations in the same ward, and correction can be made according to the citizenship certificate if otherwise the details are not as per the citizenship. The EC has urged all to actively participate in the voters’ roll collection process.
