The CIB arrested Katuwal for contesting his candidacy for the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN).

Kathmandu. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Sagar Katuwal, senior vice-president of the Contractors’ Association of Makawanpur.

He had gone to Makwanpur to win the election after he became a candidate for the central member in the 13th convention of the Nepal Contractors’ Association. But after the arrest of the candidate, the businessmen have returned empty-handed.

The CIB had been investigating the case of hacking the contracting system of the Public Procurement Monitoring Office for the past two months. Katuwal was also arrested on the night of March 17 for his involvement in the incident.

According to the CIB, the Public Procurement Monitoring Office has been managing online bidding through bidding.com.np, and Katuwal was also found involved in the gang that hacked the bidding system, looked at the tenders submitted by others and submitted his financial proposal just a few minutes before the scheduled time.

Earlier, the CIB had arrested some contractors in connection with the hacking of four big contracts.

The CIB has also brought Rautada Construction under the ambit of investigation in the bidding issued by Ashish Construction Service Construction Gauli, Sagoon Construction Service and Division Road Office, Bhaktapur after it was found to have been involved in the Rs 10 billion contract of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL). In the meantime, Katuwal of our Katuwal Construction Service has also been added.
