Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Labour and Culture Party (RSP), Harka Raj Rai, has demanded the government to scrap the MCC agreement with the United States.
Chairman Rai made this demand while speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday.
He has been of the view that the MCC project should be scrapped for the protection of the country’s independence, geopolitical balance and non-aligned foreign policy. He said that unequal and anti-national trade treaties would not be acceptable.
He claimed that the MCC agreement was forwarded with military strategic objective and drew the attention of the government to scrap it immediately.
“I would like to demand that the MCC be scrapped in order to preserve the country’s independence, geopolitical balance and non-aligned foreign policy,” he said.
The Government of Nepal should actively monitor the activities of the neighbouring countries in the border areas. I would like to demand that the Nepal Army be deployed to determine Nepal’s border through the United Nations and protect it. ’
Stating that the activities of neighbouring countries are increasing in the border area, he said the government should be serious towards this. He also called for determining Nepal’s border through the United Nations and effectively mobilizing the Nepal Army for its security.
