Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has directed the government to publish and disseminate information only through the state-run media in order to maintain austerity in government expenditure and to make the information flow uniform and transparent.
According to the secretary-level decision of the Office on April 18, all the public bodies under the federal, state and local levels have been requested to implement such provision.
The bill states that all information including public procurement should be limited to government-owned media such as Gorkhapatra Sansthan, Radio Nepal and Nepal Television.
The directive also directs the government to make arrangements to directly deposit the payment from the government or public fund into the account of the concerned media house.
It has also been clarified that the provisions related to the rate and discount of publication and broadcasting should be officially approved by the concerned media.
