Kathmandu. Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) has launched the ‘Environment Van’ on Thursday, April 2, 2082. The programme was inaugurated by Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chiri Babu Maharjan.
The van, which has been brought into operation with the objective of making environment protection and sanitation management effective, will further strengthen monitoring and action in the metropolitan area.
The environment police will play an important role in this campaign. They will also monitor openly lit fires, stop burning of plastic products, and monitor vehicles and industries that emit excessive smoke. Strict action will be taken against those throwing garbage haphazardly, causing noise pollution, pasting advertisements in an unsystematic manner and damaging trees.
Sitaram Hachhethu, chief of police of the metropolis, said that this initiative would contribute significantly to building a clean, green and well-managed Lalitpur.
