
Kathmandu. The CPN-UML’s parliamentary party meeting is convening today.
The parliament session begins tomorrow. The meeting is expected to finalize the names of parliamentary party leader, chief whip and whip.
Vice-chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa is said to be the leader of the party. However, Suhang Nembang and others have also said that they will stake claim for the post of party leader. There are reports that Suhang wants to be seen as the leader of the party both internally and externally.
The UML has 25 lawmakers including nine under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) and 16 under the proportional representation (PR) category. General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel is scheduled to brief the lawmakers about the party’s policies and its role in the parliament.
Vice-chairperson Bishnu Poudel, Prithvi Subba Gurung and other office-bearers were also present in the meeting.
