Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa is scheduled to attend the party’s central committee meeting on Tuesday.

According to party central committee member Madhu Acharya, he will participate in the meeting tomorrow as the party’s central committee meeting has already rejected Thapa’s resignation.

“His resignation has been rejected by the meeting. Therefore, tomorrow’s meeting will be presided over by him. ’

He argued that the responsibility of leadership from the special general convention should not be linked to the victory and defeat of an election. He further said that it was the responsibility of Thapa to take the party towards the 15th general convention.

The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress is taking place at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur at 1:00 pm today. The central working committee office-bearers, members and provincial presidents have been requested to be present in the meeting.

The faction led by outgoing President Sher Bahadur Deuba has started a parallel movement by rejecting the Gagan-led working committee after the setback in the House of Representatives elections. The Deuba faction is preparing to hold a separate central committee meeting.
