Kathmandu. From now on, there is no need to fill a separate application form to make a national identity card. The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to merge the database system of citizenship and national identity card without the need to fill separate forms.
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal informed about this during an inspection of the District Administration Office, Lalitpur on Thursday. According to him, arrangements have been made to exchange data between the Central Citizenship Management Information System and the National Identity Management Information System operated by the Ministry.
After this system, a national identity card can be made on the basis of the details filled at the time of citizenship. The ministry believes that with this new system, the cost and time of the citizens to fill up the form will be saved. Earlier, there was a compulsion to enter the designated unit to fill the application form and provide biometric details for the registration of the national identity card.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the work of interlinking the national identity card system with 12 other public services has been completed so far. According to the ministry, duplication has been controlled and the state exchequer is also being saved by linking the system with various agencies.
