Kathmandu. The writ petition filed against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane on the charge sheet filed against him on the case of organized crime and money laundering is taking place at the Supreme Court (SC) today.
Earlier, a division bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokhrel had ordered to bring the file that had corrected the decision of amending the case against Lamichhane. The hearing is taking place again after the Office of the Attorney General on Sunday submitted the file related to amendment to the decision to withdraw the case filed against Lamichhane as per the demand of the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Attorney General Sabita Bhandari had directed the District Government Attorney’s Office to amend the cases related to corporate crime and money laundering against Lamichhane.
Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, law students Aayush Badal and Yubaraj Poudel had filed a writ petition against the apex court’s decision. In a seven-page ‘comment and order’ endorsed by Attorney General Bhandari on January 13, the District Government Attorney Office had directed the District Government Attorney Offices to file cases against Lamichhane only for cooperative fraud and to drop two other serious cases.
Though applications have been filed at the Kaski and Rupandehi district courts as per the directive of Attorney General Bhandari, the hearing of the case is not yet taking place as the case is sub-judice at the Supreme Court. However, the government attorney offices of Kathmandu and Parsa have not filed any application at the district court for amendment of the charge sheet against Lamichhane.
