Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Rainfall occurred in different parts of the Kathmandu Valley today (Friday). Due to the sudden change in the weather, there was thick black clouds in the sky and hail.
The rain and hail had disrupted vehicular movement for some time and caused problems to pedestrians.
According to meteorologists, the weather has changed in different places of the country due to the influence of the Westerly wind system. There is a possibility of rain accompanied by thunder for the next few days.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division said light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is taking place in some districts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces at present. The system is moving towards the north-east, so the necessary precaution has been urged.
Similarly, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has said that storms are blowing in various places including the Kathmandu Valley.
There is a risk of trees falling along the roadside, uprooting of electric and telephone poles, breaking wires and blowing off the roofs made of corrugated zinc sheets.
The authority has urged one and all not to travel risky, to stay in safe places until the storm stops and to adopt special alertness while operating school buses.
