Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Shiva Narayan Mandal has been convicted on the charge of entering the government service by submitting fake academic certificates. A three-member bench of Chairman of the Special Court Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Justices Hemanta Rawal and Bidur Koirala handed down the verdict on the writ petitioner on the case.

Shivnarayan Mandal passed Secondary Level (equivalent to SLC) in 1983 from Bihar School Examination Board, Patna, India. He submitted an educational certificate stating 62-7-360. On the basis of the same certificate, he was appointed as a sub-overseer of second class from July 17, 2053.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) had informed that the certificate with the roll number was registered on the name of some person and Mandal’s name was not seen in the records.

The court found Mandal guilty after he failed to refute the report despite giving a statement in the court.
