Kathmandu. The deadline given by the Election Commission to the parties to send their names as per the closed list by combining the cluster under the proportional representation category is coming to an end today.
Various political parties are engaged in homework to select the names of lawmakers to be elected for 110 seats under the proportional representation system. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won 57 seats, Nepali Congress 20, CPN (UML) 16, Nepali Communist Party (NCP) 9, Labour Culture Party 4 and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) 4.
The CPN-UML has finalized the names of 16 members of the House of Representatives. The remaining five parties will have to submit the final decision to the Election Commission today.
Dalits, indigenous nationalities, Khas-Arya, Madhesi, Tharu and Muslims have to submit the list to the commission in the order in which their names are included in the closed list. As per the constitutional provision, there should be 33 per cent representation of women from the political parties in the Parliament.
The meeting has been called at 10:00 am today. A meeting of the party’s central work execution committee is taking place today. The NCP, Labour Culture and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) are also engaged in the final exercise to finalize the name of the party.
