Kathmandu. The people’s representatives of the local level of the Nepali Congress (NC) have expressed solidarity with party President Gagan Kumar Thapa over the recent political developments in the party.
Issuing a joint press release today, Lalitpur Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Rural Municipality Chairs and Vice-Chairs have said that the leadership and guardianship of Thapa was indispensable for the party in the present complicated political situation.
“Gagan Thapa is the only person qualified to play an effective role in the contemporary politics besides protecting the NC’s glorious history, current political challenges, nationality and democracy,” the statement reads.
The people’s representatives have pointed out the need of continuity of the leadership to strengthen the party, completely rejecting the resignation of the party president.
Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan, District Coordination Committee Chief Rishidev Phuyal, Godawari Municipality Mayor Gajendra Maharjan and Bagmati Rural Municipality Chairman Bir Bahadur Lopchan were among those who expressed solidarity with the government.
Likewise, Mahankal Chair Ganesh Bahadur KC, Godavari Municipality Deputy Mayor Muna Adhikari, Mahalaxmi Municipality Deputy Mayor Laxmi Maharjan and Konjyosom Vice-President Rajan Ghimire have also collectively urged Thapa to adopt guardianship.
