Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has scheduled a writ petition against the withdrawal of the charge sheet filed against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane on the charge sheet filed against him on the case of corporate crime and money laundering.

A division bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shreekanta Poudel has assigned the hearing on the writ petition. Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, law student Aayush Badal and Yubaraj Poudel had filed a writ petition challenging the decision of District Government Attorney Sabita Bhandari to amend the case related to corporate fraud and organised crime and money laundering against Lamichhane.

In a seven-page long ‘comment and order’ endorsed by Attorney General Sabita Bhandari on January 12, the District Government Attorney Office was directed to file a case against Lamichhane only for cooperative fraud and to drop two other serious cases.

Though applications have been filed at Kaski and Rupandehi district courts, the hearing of the case is yet to take place as the case is sub-judice at the Supreme Court. However, the Government Attorney Offices of Kathmandu and Parsa have not filed applications at the District Court for amendment of the charge sheet against Lamichhane.
