Kathmandu. Darchula: CPN-UML candidate Ganesh Singh Thagunna has been elected as the federal parliament member from Darchula. He garnered 18,899 votes to win the House of Representatives election held on Thursday.
According to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, Thagunna’s nearest rival Dharmananda Joshi of Nepali Congress got 15,836 votes.
Similarly, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s Rajesh Singh Samant got 8,936 votes and Laxman Joshi of Nepali Communist Party got 3,065 votes.
A total of 11 candidates were in the fray for the House of Representatives election in the district this time. According to Chief Election Officer Bhuwan Giri, out of a total of 92,948 voters in the district, 43,860 votes were cast.
Newly-elected lawmaker Thagunna thanked all the voters who voted for him and expressed his commitment to work continuously for the development of the district and for the welfare of the people.
