Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RPP) senior leader Balendra Sah has been elected from Jhapa-5 defeating former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. He got the highest number of votes so far while destroying Oli’s legacy.
This is the second time Oli has lost a parliamentary election. Before this, he had won 6 times from different areas of Jhapa. In the 2008 Constituent Assembly elections, he had to face defeat from Jhapa-7 due to the Maoist wave.
In the 2079 BS elections, Oli had won with the highest number of votes in the country. This time, it’s just the opposite. Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) candidate Balen defeated Oli by securing the highest number of votes in the country.
Out of 106,372 votes cast in Jhapa, Balendra Sah got 68,348 votes and Oli got 18,734 votes.
