Kathmandu. According to the data provided by the Election Commission, more than 44.55 lakh votes were cast in the polling stations across the country till 1 pm.
According to the Election Commission, 24 per cent of the total 18,903,689 voters across the country cast their votes. The voting began at 7:00 am and is continuing peacefully throughout the country.
Around 23 per cent votes were cast in Koshi Province, 20 per cent in Madhes Province, 19 per cent in Bagmati Province, 21 per cent in Gandaki Province, 26 per cent in Lumbini Province and around 31 per cent in Karnali Province.
Around 36 per cent voting was recorded in the three districts of the Valley. Voters have been casting their ballots in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur since early this morning.
According to the EC, so far the voting was going on peacefully and no untoward incident was reported. The EC has urged the voters to exercise their voting rights without any hesitation till 5 pm.
