Kathmandu. Voting has not yet begun at the Dudhila Secondary School polling centre in Apihimal Rural Municipality-3 of Darchula. The voting process was disrupted after the local voters did not be present at the centre.

Earlier, the locals had decided not to cast their votes in two polling stations. Voters of Gaurishankar Primary School of Naugad Rural Municipality-1, Nagu and Dudhila Primary School of Apihimal Municipality-3 boycotted the voting as part of the ‘No Vote’ campaign.

Chief Secretary of the state government, Baikuntha Aryal, held discussions with the locals on Wednesday but they did not back down from the decision. According to Karan Singh Dadal, coordinator of the struggle committee, the ‘no vote’ campaign has been launched since January 1. He said that the state government has taken the initiative late and the people do not have faith in the assurances.

Earlier, a team led by Chief District Officer Anil Poudel had reached the polling booth to involve the locals. There are 602 voters in the centre of Gaurishankar Secondary School in Nagu.

Similarly, locals of some settlements of Apihimal-3 boycotted the voting demanding ward division. According to Kamal Singh Rokaya, a local, the ward office has been kept at an inconvenient place after the division of the ward in 2074 BS.

A total of 346 voters of Jhusku, Chaud, Chhabis and Bhattar villages of Dudhila Primary School have decided not to cast their ballots. The voting process has been thrown into confusion due to the stance of the locals.
