Kathmandu. Udayapur: Ballot boxes have been damaged when security personnel opened fire at Katari in Udayapur.
The incident took place at the Tawakhola (B) polling centre in Katari Municipality-3.
A police constable posted at the Area Police Office, Sundarpur, Chuhade, opened fire from a shotgun he was carrying.
The ballot box was damaged in the explosion. There were 4 votes in the ballot box. Police said there was no damage to the ballot papers.
Voting is now underway by placing it in another ballot box. According to Binod Ghimire, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Koshi Province, the weapon exploded when security personnel were fighting.
