1,05,000 tourists arrive in a month

Kathmandu. A total of 105,441 tourists arrived in Nepal in February 2026.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), more than 11,000 tourists visited Nepal this month compared to the same period last year.

A total of 96,880 tourists visited Nepal in February 2025. The number of tourists has increased by 8.8 per cent this year as compared to the last year. Arrivals have also improved compared to 2019. According to the board, 102,423 tourists visited the country that year.

The improvement in the number of Indian tourists has played a major role in the rise in the number of Indian tourists in Nepal. Apart from this, there has been an encouraging improvement in arrivals from Buddhist countries as well.

Compared to February 2025, tourist arrivals from India increased by 18.5 percent this year. A total of 22,745 Indians have come to Nepal this year. Last year, 19,187 had visited the hospital.

Tourist arrivals from Bangladesh have declined by 33.7 per cent in the review period. Only 3,212 tourists have visited Nepal this month. Last year, 4,847 tourists had visited the country.

Similarly, the arrival from Sri Lanka has improved by 72 percent. This year, 7,515 people have returned from Sri Lanka in a month. Last year, there were 4,370 visitors.

Likewise, the arrival from northern neighbour China has also increased by 30.6 per cent. A total of 10,816 tourists from China have visited Nepal. Arrivals from Malaysia and Myanmar have also improved significantly. A total of 6,035 tourists from Myanmar and 2,137 tourists from Malaysia visited Nepal during the month.

A total of 9,710 tourists have come from the United States. However, the number of tourists from the United States has decreased.

A total of 10,348 tourists visited the country in February last year. Australian tourist arrivals have also declined. A total of 1,426 tourists have visited Nepal in a month this year. Last year, 3,737 tourists visited the country.

Tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom have registered a decline of 11.1 per cent in the review period. According to the board, 5,618 British tourists visited Nepal in a month this year.

A total of 92,573 tourists had visited Nepal in January this year. Even at that time, there was an improvement of 15.7 percent.

Encouraging improvement in arrivals from Buddhist countries

The role of Buddhist countries is also significant in the improvement in tourist arrivals in February. This year, India is in the first place with arrivals. China is in second place and the United States is in third place. Sri Lanka has climbed to the fourth position.

Myanmar is fifth and the UK is sixth. Australia ranked seventh, Thailand eighth, Bangladesh ninth and Germany 10th. Of these, China improved by 30.6 per cent, Sri Lanka by 72 per cent and Myanmar by 91.6 per cent.
