3.5 lakh people left Kathmandu in a week

Kathmandu. The number of people going to the villages from Kathmandu to cast their votes has increased. In the last one week, around 3.5 lakh people have left Kathmandu. The hustle and bustle in Kathmandu has eased as many people have left Kathmandu due to the voting, public holiday and Holi festival.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nawaraj Adhikari, chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the number of passengers leaving the country is estimated to be higher than the figure. Apart from public transport, passengers are also going out through private and air travel.

Security checks have been tightened at the checkpoints including Nagdhunga, Balkhu, Koteshwor, Sankhu and Jagati of Bhaktapur. Traffic police have urged people not to carry more passengers than their capacity. The government has already decided to ban the operation of all vehicles except the most essential ones from 12:00 midnight till 5:00 pm tomorrow. The silence period began at 12 midnight.
