Kathmandu. The government has received loan amounting to Rs 255.48 billion till mid-January of the current fiscal year 2082/83. According to the Public Debt Management Office under the Ministry of Finance, the government had set a target of mobilizing Rs 595 billion in the current fiscal year. Public debt receipts are 42.89 per cent against the annual target.
According to the office, the total public debt increased by Rs 184.93 billion by mid-February of the current fiscal year from Rs 2.674 trillion at the beginning of the current fiscal year. The total public debt liability has reached Rs 2,858.97 billion during the period. This is 46.81 percent of the GDP. The share of foreign debt in the total public debt stood at 52.81 per cent and the share of internal debt was 47.19 per cent as of mid-February.
In the current fiscal year 2082÷83, the government has allocated Rs 411.1 billion for debt service expenditure, while Rs 203.65 billion has been disbursed till mid-February. This is 49.55 percent of the annual budget allocation. In terms of GDP, the total debt service expenditure stood at 3.33 percent as of mid-February.
