Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Election Commission (EC) has started monitoring the bank accounts of the same family of the candidates of the House of Representatives. The EC has stepped up surveillance on the accounts along with the families of the candidates as many candidates have spent money outside the banking transaction despite drawing the attention of the political parties and candidates time and again to open bank accounts for all election-related expenses through the banking system.
In order to make the election expenditure transparent, the EC had made a provision in the election code itself that election expenditure should be made through bank account. The EC has stepped up surveillance on the bank accounts of the candidates and their family members during the election campaigning.
Election Code of Conduct and Monitoring Committee Coordinator Sagun Shumsher Rana said the EC would take action against the candidates who violate the election code of conduct for violating the election code of conduct.
According to him, the election expenses of the candidates are being monitored from the Treasury and Account Control Office of the district. Election Commissioner Rana also urged all to create an environment conducive to hold the election in a free, fair and fear-free environment by fully abiding by the election code of conduct.
