NC has capacity to run country: Vice-President Sharma

Kathmandu. Vice-President of the Nepali Congress Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that the Nepali Congress has the capacity to handle the country in the present situation as the country was in a difficult situation after the Gen-G movement.

He made the remark while addressing a gathering of party cadres and leaders in Saptari constituency-2 at Rajbiraj on Tuesday.

Stating that the country has entered the phase of change, he said the Nepali Congress has also changed. He was of the view that the changed NC would respect all and move ahead with the spirit of unity and collaboration.

He further said that the Nepali Congress is the party that takes all the political parties along for the welfare of the country and people. Stating that the Genji movement was for positive change, he said it was the beginning of the process of changing the country.

He said that the changed Congress will respect all and will not unnecessarily criticize anyone. He argued that the government would play an important role in the country’s development by taking everyone together.

Stating that voices against federalism have been raised from some places, he said no one could weaken the federal system achieved through the struggle of the seniors. NC leadership was essential for the protection of the constitution and overall development of the country, he said.

He said monarchy was not acceptable but the contribution of history and ancestors should be respected. “We don’t believe in monarchy, we believe in a republic. But we should not forget the history and appreciate the contribution made by our ancestors,” he said.

National Assembly member and Nepali Congress leader Ranjit Karna said the NC was continuously supporting the country and people in the country’s democratic movement.

Stating that the Nepali Congress has filed its candidacy for the overall development of the region, he said it was necessary to elect the NC for the development of the region.

According to him, the Nepali Congress has already made public its commitment for the country’s economic prosperity and overall development. Stating that the elected representatives from this constituency have not been able to achieve the expected development in the past, he said the NC would now take the responsibility of development.

Former Minister and Nepali Congress leader Jitendra Narayan Dev said Saptari district has a historic and revolutionary tradition.

He said that it was necessary for the voters to choose the pro-development candidate and cast their ballot.

Expressing the commitment of the Nepali Congress to work for the country and people, he said that the politics of unnecessary criticism and protest would not be carried out.

Stating that the Nepali Congress has been playing a guardian role in the history of Nepal, he pledged to play the same role in the days ahead.

Nepali Congress Madhes Province Joint General Secretary Bindu Yadav, leaders Sakal Dev Sutihar, Arjun Prasad Sah, Irshad Ansari, Sanat Mandal, Shambhulal Dev, Samir Jha, Mahananda Yadav and Nanda Kishor among others expressed their views on the occasion. About two dozen Gen-G youths joined the Nepali Congress at the event. A significant number of leaders and cadres were present on the occasion.
