Kathmandu. MAHOTTARI — The Holi festival has formally commenced in Mithilanchal from today with the celebration of Holi at Bhangaha municipality-7 in Mahottari district as part of the 15-day Madhyamiki Parikrama.
Baba Nawal Kishor Das, who is participating in the circumambulation, said Baba Nawal Kishor Das, who is participating in the circumambulation procession, today after the god Mithilabihari (Ramchandra) performed Holi with Kishori (Mata Sita) at Kanchanban of Mahottari this morning. On the seventh day of the fifteen-day Madhyamik Parikrama, the palanquin and idols of Lord Ramchandra and Mother Sita were played Holi with colors and abir with each other in a religious manner today.
The use of coloured powder has started in the villages and households of Mithilanchal. Pandit Dhirendra Jha of Jaleshwor Municipality-8, the district headquarters, said that this year too the Holi songs, dance, humor, satirical poems and jokes related to Holi have been started in the villages of Mithilanchal as in every year.
Sadhus, mahatmas and householders of Mithilanchal perform a 15-day circumambulation in remembrance of the day when God went into exile. The circumambulation procession started from Kalaneshwor of India in 15 days and ends in Janakpur after the palanquin of Lord Ram and Mata Sita gathered at Hanumangadhi of Dhanusha on February 17.
KATHMANDU: The pilgrims leaving their stay at Kanchanban of Mahottari for the seventh day today have set out for the eighth day of their stay at Kanchanban of Mahottari district carrying the palanquin of Lord Ramchandra and Mother Sita.
