Kathmandu. The Election Commission has urged the people’s representatives of the local levels not to participate in the election publicity.

The EC has urged the government to maintain freedom, fairness, transparency, frugality and fear-free environment in the election. Stating that the election code of conduct-2082 has been implemented, the EC reminded that it was the responsibility of the bodies concerned to fully comply with the code of conduct.

The EC has stated that it has been monitoring the compliance of the election code of conduct by all the political parties, candidates and bodies concerned. “Attention of the EC has been drawn to the complaints and complaints received that some people’s representatives of the local levels were involved in the election publicity campaign of political parties and candidates against the election code of conduct,” reads the statement.

As per the election code of conduct, the office-bearers of the local executive can be involved in the election publicity of the political parties concerned at the local level other than the local level where they are incumbent, but the government resources and means cannot be used.

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has also warned the local executive bodies not to take part in the election publicity campaign of any political party or candidate at the local level where they are in place, breaching the election code of conduct.
