Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Founding leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist) Dolakha, Shiva Prasad Bhandari, has returned to the CPN-UML. His wife Kalpana Bhandari and former deputy mayor of Bhimeshwor Municipality Shanta Basnet have also joined the CPN-UML.
They were formally welcomed to the party at a reunion on Monday morning. Party candidate Parbat Gurung, leaders Ananda Prasad Pokharel, Jitbir Lama, Lal Kumar KC and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the reunion program, leader Bhandari said that the victory of the UML can be achieved only when all the forces of the UML are united among the people. He stressed on the need of coordination and collaboration among all the leaders and cadres to make the party the first force in Dolakha. “Now, we should reach people’s doorsteps with the message of unity and not division and contradiction,” he said.
He also said that he was fully committed to making UML candidate Parbat Gurung victorious in the upcoming elections. “UML’s victory is necessary for the development and stability of Dolakha,” he said.
Bhandari was active in the CPN (Unified Socialist) after the split of the UML four years ago. He said that he has decided to return to the UML in the changed political situation of late.
