Three-day public holiday recommended during election

Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has recommended a three-day holiday on the government for holding the March 4 elections.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said that the government has recommended a holiday on March 3, 24 and 22 for the participation of all voters.

“We have recommended the government to declare a public holiday on March 4, 22 and 7. It is up to the government to approve it,” Bhandari said.

If the government approves the holiday as per the recommendation of the commission, then there will be a public holiday for 7 consecutive days. The two-day Holi festival is observed on March 2 and 19, the election from March 20 to 21 and International Women’s Day on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
