PM Karki calls on Dixit to involve in nation building

Kathmandu. Pokhara—The 21st convocation ceremony of Pokhara University was held in Pokhara today. On the occasion, Prime Minister and University Chancellor Sushila Karki called on the graduate students to actively contribute to nation building. Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Karki said that the convocation was not only the formal conclusion of educational journey but also a new and important departure point of life. She said that the youths with higher education should not limit their knowledge and skills only to personal progress but also use them for the progress of the nation and society.

Pointing out the need of efficient, honest and responsible human resources for the country’s development and prosperity, PM Karki stressed the need of prioritizing innovation, entrepreneurship and research-based education. Advising the youths to adapt to the new technology to become competitive and competent in the changing global context, she said that universities should provide timely, practical and employment-oriented education.

Stating that a large number of youths going abroad immediately after completing their studies was a matter of concern, she stressed the need of collaboration between universities, government and private sector to create opportunities in the country. He stressed on the need of orienting curriculum and teaching method towards entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

PM Karki urged the graduating students to move ahead with positive thinking, sincerity and sense of responsibility, saying discipline, diligence and human values were the bases for long-term success. She also called for active participation in the upcoming elections for strengthening democracy, promoting good governance and building a corruption-free nation. The event was attended by university officials, professors, parents and students.
