Makwanpur. Nepali Congress (NC) Makawanpur House of Representatives constituency-1 candidate Mahalaxmi Upadhyay has said that although it was challenging to contest the election in a male-dominated society, she has overcome all the challenges. Speaking at the election meet, Upadhyay said that her political journey so far has been full of struggle but full of confidence.

“I have reached here by overcoming challenges, now I will move ahead by overcoming the remaining challenges,” she said. According to him, all the political parties in the competition are presenting their own models and agendas. She said that the Nepali Congress is being presented differently to the voters on the basis of the role it has played in protecting the country, democracy and the constitution since the past. “The Nepali Congress has been in the forefront of protecting democracy and constitution and saving the country from crisis. Now, it is our goal to transform the country by making those achievements more systematic and consolidated. ’

Describing the NC as a mainstream party that could accommodate all classes, communities and issues, Upadhyay expressed her confidence that the voters would finally take the right decision. “Voters see the Nepali Congress as a force that can cover the entire issue,” she said. Claiming that she has received special support from the women voters, Upadhyay said that the voters have been appreciating her role in making the constitution women-friendly and ensuring women rights.

“I have been continuously raising voice for the protection and implementation of women’s rights guaranteed in the constitution. I am confident that the voters will judge it,” she said. According to Upadhyay, women empowerment, equal rights and inclusive participation are the main pillars of his election campaign. She made it clear that she was moving ahead with the determination to establish women leadership even though she had to compete within a male-dominated structure.
