Police arrest four arrested for cheating people of Rs 65 lakh on the pretext of sending them abroad

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four persons on the charge of cheating Rs 65.33 million on the pretext of sending them abroad for employment.

Police deputed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office made public the four arrested on Monday.

Dharma Prasad Rai, 51, of Arjundhara Municipality-6, Jhapa, Suraj Bahadur Shrestha, 43, of Gandaki Rural Municipality-1, Gorkha, Govinda Prasad Niraula, 42, of Arjundhara-5, Jhapa and Nima Dolma Lama, 35, of Tarkeshwor Municipality-7, Kathmandu, were made public.

Of them, Rai was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the police that he was sent to Austria, Rs 5 million in the name of sending Lama to the UK and Rs 203,000 on the pretext of sending him to Turkey.

Likewise, Shrestha was arrested on the basis of a complaint that Shrestha went missing after taking Rs 750,000 to send him abroad on the pretext of sending him to Romania.

The arrestees have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu for further investigation and action, police said.
